Yee makes steeplechase world junior standard at Payton Jordan

Trinity Western University middle distance runner Regan Yee made the IAAF World Junior Championships standard in the 3000m steeplechase at Payton Jordan Invitational Sunday.  

During the meet in Stanford, Calif., Yee posted a time of 10:39.79 to finish 11th in her section and come under the IAAF entry standard of 10:50.00.

This year’s IAAF World Junior Championships are in Eugene, Ore. July 22-27.

Last year, Yee won the 2000m steeplechase at the Canadian Junior Championships and then went on to finish seventh at the 2013 Pan American Junior Championships in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:13.61.

The Spartans Sarah Inglis also ran in the 3000m steeplechase Sunday and finished 15th in her section in 10:33.91.

For Inglis, it was the first time she has ever competed in the steeplechase.
