Rivermen tame Wild, ground Eagles, stall Express

Langley’s 'Men remain on a streak, knocking out three teams.

The Langley Rivermen stand at 25 and 15 in the respective win/loss columns after the past several days.

They returned home after a stop in Wenatchee Jan. 25 that had a 7-1 result for the Rivermen, and continued with weekend wins over Surrey (6-1) and Coquitlam (5-1).

Wenatchee’s league leading Wild couldn’t match the Rivermen’s play. Bo Didur recorded 43 saves while Gavin Payne and Ryan Barrow each notched two goals.

Langley kept the Surrey Eagles grounded Jan. 26, restricting the hosts to one goal in the first period.

Max Kaufman added two goals to his stats. The other scorers were Sean Gulka, Eric Butte, Ryan Barrow and John Schuldt.

In the Jan. 28 home game against the Coquitlam Express, the guests were again allowed to score once in the first period and that was it. The scoring was handled by Max Kaufman with two, and singles for McKay Flanagan, Cooper Leitch and Brendan Budy.

The latest action makes eight straight wins for the Langley squad which has clinched a playoff berth.

The question then becomes can the Rivermen continue their winning ways when they host Prince George at 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 3 or Salmon Arm on Sunday at 6 p.m.

After those home games, they are on the road in Williams Lake and Surrey during next week.
