Langley Traktors take gold in pre-Christmas hockey tourney in Coquitlam.

Langley players cut swath through Coquitlam competition

A Langley Bantam C4 team, the Traktors, brought home gold this week.

Langley Bantam C4 Traktors rolled to a gold-medal win at The Bantam Big Chill Tournament held in Tri-City from Dec. 20 to 23.

Just ahead of Christmas, the team participated in a four-day tournament at Planet Ice in the Coquitlam.

The Traktors went undefeated in the tourney outscoring the opposition 44-8 along the way, boasted one proud parent, Donna Davie.

“Relying on a quick attack and precision finishing, the Traktors cruised through the first five games, but found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second period of the final against Coquitlam C3,” she said.

“The score could have been a lot worse if not for the stellar play of net minder Van Dayton who held the boys in after a sluggish start,” Davie explained.

“Eventually the Traktors regained their form, led by goals from Henry Brawdy, Ryan Davie, and Gavin Drake. Jonathan Lennox later potted the winner following a mad rush up the left wing and then firing a laser past the Coquitlam goalie. Lucas Guiotto provided an insurance marker and Langley skated off with a 6-3 victory.”

Other team members include: Adam Gjesdal, Dayton King, Logan Schigas, Trevor James, Keith Stanworth, Geoffrey Chattel, Kyson Burgart, and Sean Wade.

The team is coached by Chris Brawdy, Michael Schigas, Brad Davie and Steve Gilray.
