The Langley Bantam C4 Traktors beat an undefeated Abbotsford squad in the South Okanagan Bantam Rec Tournament in Oliver and Osoyoos from Jan. 20 to 23.

The Traktors faced their toughest competition early on as they narrowly defeated Kelowna 3-1 in their opener with Johnny Lennox and Logan Schigas getting players of the game.

Next up was Salmon Arm – goalie Van Dayton recorded the shutout and two third period goals by Sean Wade iced a 4-0 victory.

Traktors then defeated West Kelowna 8-0 to earn a spot in the Semi-finals. Trevor James had two goals in the win and Kyson Burgart was a stand-out on defence.

In the semi-final the Traktors started the game brutally out-hitting the opposition from Kelowna… resulting in a parade to the penalty box and playing shorthanded for most of the game.

After two periods the game was tied 1-1. With help from their coaches, who provided positive encouragement to play a more disciplined style, the Traktors erupted for seven third-period goals to win 8-1. Gavin Drake lead the offensive charge while Geoff Chattel played steady defence all game killing penalties effectively.

In the final, the Traktors faced an Abbotsford team who were also undefeated going in. After a back-and-forth first period the Traktors slowly pulled away lead by Henry Brawdy’s five goals and captain Ryan Davie’s strong inspirational play. The game ended with Traktors ahead 9-3.

Other team members are Dayton King, Adam Gjesdal, Keith Stanworth, and Lucas Guiotto. The team is coached by Chris Brawdy, Michael Schigas and Steve Gilray.
