American mud race comes north

The Rugged Maniac race is coming to Cloverdale.

A muddy race is set for Cloverdale on Aug. 13. The Rugged Maniac is an American-based event held in various communities and provides some proceeds to the American Cancer Society.

Participants, often in costume, go through an obstacle course of mud, a water slide, a fire jump, trampolines and more. There’s also a mechanical bull, beach volleyball, a stein-hoisting contest and other activities.

The pre-event cost is $89 plus taxes to participate and another $11 to register on race day. There’s also costs for parking and other items.

Spectators are admitted free.
