As same-sex marriage is growing in our community and world, there have been many side issues arising involved with where the line is drawn.
Is it appropriate for police officers in uniform to march in a pride parade? In my opinion, officers should not be required, nor allowed to march in a pride parade while in uniform, because they are to be peace keepers, up building and protecting everyone in the community; they should not scrutinize against homosexuals, and they should not possibly offend others by marching and taking a stand in such a controversial issue.
If an officer would like to take a stand for pride as an individual, they are most welcome to, but this should not be done while representing what is supposed to be a neutral force. They are to do their job, and not put themselves in a hard position by staying in their uniform and marching.
