If Metro Vancouver builds its garbage incinerator, it will have to be classed as â€œgreenâ€ renewable energy, which it would sell to BC Hydro for four times current Hydro rates â€“ which would be passed on to all B.C. residents.
So, if youâ€™re OK with that, do nothing. Otherwise, do something, and quickly.
Proponents argue that the ash residue is â€œonlyâ€ 10per cent and not 20 per cent-plus, as I have said before, but is anyone OK with even 70 tonnes of toxic ash being landfilled somewhere in B.C. for at least 50 years?
Oh! And goodbye to recycling; itâ€™s combustible.
