UPDATED: Langley Mounties investigating after man found dead on road

RCMP are seeking the public’s help after a man was found dead in Fernridge early Dec. 20.

A man found dead on the road in the Fernridge area early Sunday morning was the victim of an apparent hit and run.

Daniel Patrick McAuley, a 44-year-old Langley man, has been identified as the victim by the BC Coroner’s Service.

Mounties got a call about a man in his 40s lying in the middle of the road in the area of 200th Street and 29th Avenue at around 2:30 Sunday morning.

First responders found McAuley deceased at the scene.

Weather and visibility were both poor in the area at the time, noted regional coroner Brynne Redford.

Langley RCMP Staff Sgt. Wayne Baier told the Advance that “We are treating it [as a hit and run],” he said.

Police were looking for a Toyota Camry, made between 2007 and 2011, Cpl. Holly Largy said Tuesday. The vehicle will have damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, she said.

Anyone with information can call the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
