Storm drain clearance a priority in Langleys

Langley City and Township are hoping to prevent local flooding.

  • Feb. 8, 2017 12:00 p.m.

Langley City and Township are reminding residents to clear snow and ice away from catch basins, as Wednesday’s storm may turn to rain quickly.

A warm front is meeting the cold front that has been sitting over Langley since last week. Snow began mid-day Wednesday, but rain and possibly freezing rain are expected.

New rainwater and melting snow could be a problem if storm sewer grates are blocked by ice and snow.

Both Township and City asked residents to clear storm drains if they can.

Langley Township crews are trying to clear as many storm drains as possible as of Wednesday.

The Township asked that if you find an area with pooling for flooding around a storm drain, call 604-532-7300 to report it.
