Langley to host major national track and field events

The Township and a local track club are teaming up for the events.

Langley will host the Canadian Track and Field Championships in 2021 and 2022, Athletics Canada announced this week.

The Township will co-host the event with the Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club.

The event will see the world trials held in Langley in 2021. Athletics Canada is the governing body for track and field sports across the country.

“Langley Township is known as a sports destination with a reputation for providing exceptional recreation facilities, accommodation, and support services,” said Township Mayor Jack Froese. “Our many enthusiastic volunteers and fans look forward to experiencing the excitement of these prestigious Championships and cheering on the athletes taking part locally and from across the nation.”
