Langley sprinkler forum has fiery demo

Firefighters were on hand for the event.

A Langley forum on sprinkler safety included a practical demonstration of their value.

The Feb. 22 event at the Langley Events Centre was for civic officials, builders, architects, and those in the realty field.

Organized by firefighters, the Family Sprinkler Summit included a demo using two boxed “rooms,” one with a sprinkler, one without.

Township firefighters were on hand to douse both rooms, but the sprinklered room was out in 15 seconds. The other room was fully engulfed in flame in one minute, 13 seconds.

The event was aimed at getting more sprinklers installed, particularly in residential buildings.
