In their final game before a short Christmas break, the Aldergrove Kodiaks worked overtime against the Delta Ice Hawks at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Dec. 23.
The Ice Hawks took the two points with a 4-3 victory, while the Kodiaks came away with a single point.
All of the Kodiaksâ€™ goals came in the first period.
Cameron Davitt with two, and Jordan Funk on an power play scored for the Kodiaks, who carried a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
As the game wore on, the Ice Hawks chipped away at the Kodiaksâ€™ lead. Deltaâ€™s Brent Chreptyk scored the only goal of the middle period.
Then, with 8:23 remaining in the third period, Chreptyk tied the score at 3-3 to send it into overtime.
Thirty-six seconds into the extra frame, Jake Fletcher scored an unassisted, shorthanded marker to give the Ice Hawks the two points.
The Kodiaks had to settle for an overtime point but thanks to a sizzling December that saw the team go 5-1-0-1, the Aldergrove junior Bs head into Christmas break on top of the Pacific Junior Hockey Leagueâ€™s Harold Brittain Conference with a 14-9-2-5 record, one point up on the second-place Abbotsford Pilots (16-12-0-2) and three ahead of the third-place Langley Knights (15-14-1-1).
The Mission City Outlaws (12-15-1-1) and Ridge Meadows Flames (10-20) round out the conference standings.
The Richmond Sockeyes lead the five-team Tom Shaw Conference with a stellar 25-6-0-2 record, two points up on the equally impressive North Vancouver Wolf Pack (24-4-0-2), who have three games at hand on the Sockeyes.
The Kodiaks return to action on Monday, Dec. 29 when they host Ridge Meadows at Aldergrove Arena. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
