CITY COUNCIL: Safety, jobs, and parking are top-of-mind issues for Langley candidate

Langley City business owner Sharon Newbery is running for the local council this fall.

Newbery was born in Murrayville but now both lives and works in the City, where she operates Rheanew Business Solutions Inc.

Newbery said her platform will include safety in the City, business growth and jobs, and the management of derelict buildings. She also wants to bring back yellow-painted curbs in areas of prohibited parking, and blue curbs in disabled parking zones.

Newbery has been involved with the Langley International Festival for three years, with the Canada Day Society for two years, and has volunteered for the Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association, the Disabled Games, and was the parade marshall for this year’s Langley Community Days Parade.

She has also volunteered as a coordinator for this year’s Terry Fox Run, as well as three years with the Langley International Festival, a few years with Langley Canada Day, the Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association, the disable games, Langley Community Day, and the chamber.

"I have thought long and hard about how I can help improve my city and decided the best way is to throw my hat into the ring for Langley City Council", Newbery said.
