Spring into action to fight hunger in Langley

The public can donate to the Full Cupboard program at a special event Saturday.

Envision Financial will Spring into Action! to help fight hunger in Langley communities.

It’s hosting a food drive to support its The Full Cupboard which raises food donations and funds for local food banks in the communities where Envision Financial operates.

On Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. members of the public are invited to bring their non-perishable food or cash donations to Envision Financial’s Willoughby branch, 20193 64th Ave. Donors can enjoy snacks and refreshments, and be entered to win a special prize package from Envision Financial.

“The fight against hunger is a top priority for Envision Financial,” explained Susan Bryom, senior manager of community investment. “Last year over 100,000 British Columbian’s accessed their local food bank – a staggering one third of those were children.”

Since inception in 2013, Full Cupboard has raised $451,053 and has collected over 66,000 pounds of food for Fraser Valley food banks – achieving over half of its 10-year goal.All food and funds collected in Langley will benefit Langley residents in need.

“Our goal is to raise $1 million and 100,000 pounds of food by 2023,” Byrom noted. “It’s only through the support of local residents and our community that we’ll turn this goal into a reality.”
