Langley seniors will compete in their own brand of Olympics on Aug. 30.
Every four years since 2004, Langley seniors have taken part in a single day community-run Olympics event involving senior care homes around the Fraser Valley.
For the first time since its inception, Langley Lodge will be hosting approximately 50 local elderly Olympians at Campbell Valley Park from noon to 2 p.m. on that day.
This event is a team-based series of events that are not to be found in Rio, including toilet paper tossing, putting, basketball shooting and horseshoes, to name a few.
Medals are earned on a team basis, allowing for the top three seniors’ organizations to take home gold, silver or bronze at the conclusion of the competition.
