A 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested early Monday morning when the car they allegedly stole was stopped with a spike belt.
Police allege the pair broke into a home in Haney, in the 22500 block of 116th Avenue, just after 1 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11.
Among the items missing was a 2003 Buick Century.
That car was spotted by a plain clothes officer just before 2:30 a.m. as the car headed for the Golden Ears Bridge.
The officer followed the stolen vehicle into Langley where the car was stopped by a spike belt and the two suspects were arrested, said Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Dale Somerville.
"Through some good communications and excellent observations, police were able to solve this crime in short order," Somerville said.
"Our plain clothes investigator was aware of the earlier break-in and the fact this car had been stolen. With the good description the investigator gave, it proved to be the key link in finding the stolen car," he added.
The two suspects were remanded by a justice of the peace for a first court appearance today, (Feb. 12.)
