The RCMP have been called in after a fire in an abandoned Langley home led firefighters to evidence of drug production.
Township firefighters were called out to the home in the 3300 block of 208th Street at about 1:20 a.m.
The home was fully aflame when firefighters arrived, and it was destroyed, said assistant fire chief Bruce Ferguson.
No one was in the building at the time, and the gas had been shut off several days before, Ferguson said. As with most abandoned homes, firefighters are considering it suspicious, possibly arson.
In a nearby shed or garage on the property, firefighters found evidence of recent construction, which might have been an attempt to set up a marijuana grow op. No drugs were found, and the Langley RCMP have been called in, Ferguson said.
