The free ride - or rather, the free park - is over. As of Sept. 1, people will have to pay $2 per day to park at the Carvolth Park and Ride.
Or they can pay $40 per month. The facility, with its more than 670 parking spots, was free of charge for a limited time after it was opened in December 2011.
The new parking charge is part of TransLink's Park and Ride Policy, which guides the supply, pricing, and management of TransLink-managed facilities.
According to TransLink officials, the pricing will help TransLink make the best use of its resources, contributing to the operating, maintenance, and capital costs of its facilities.
Motorcyclists can also park at designated stalls, for $1 per day.
For those who cycle, bike lockers are available at the facility for $10 per month, with a minimum rental of three months.
