The Langley golfer's short game was the key to an impressive outing.

Newly turned professional Sue Kim finished in a three-way tie for third place at the 2010 Canadian PGA Women's Championship.

The event was held this week at Burlington Golf & Country Club in Burlington, Ont.

Kim, a Langley resident, finished at two-under par, tied with Seema Sadekar of Toronto and defending champion Jessica Shepley of Oakville, Ont.

Kim made a splash in her professional debut. After opening the 36-hole event with an even-par 71 on Tuesday, she followed up with a great round of two-under par 69 on Wednesday.

With one of the sharpest short games in Canadian women's golf, Kim reeled off five birdies and three bogies, and made a fine par save on the 18th hole.

Sadekar, Shepley and Kim all took home $4,166.67 for their strong play.

Kim said her first career paycheque is one she will always remember.

She now heads to Winnipeg for next week's CN Canadian Women's Open

Tournament champion Laura Bavaird of Grosse Ile, Mich., sealed the deal with a four-foot par putt for the win, and the first-place cheque of $12,000.
