The Langley Dynamite came within a win of a provincial title over the July 4-7 weekend.
The Dynamite captured a silver medal from the B.C. provincial U14B championships at Inter River Park in North Vancouver.
The Dynamite was edged 2-1 by the Vernon Selects in the gold medal game on July 7. The local girls played hard in the final but just couldn't put the ball in the net during an exciting second half of the final game.
Leading up to the finals, the Dynamite posted a 2-0 victory over Nelson with Kylie Poohachoff and Hannah Plowman scoring a goal each for the Langley squad.
The Dynamite downed Powell River 4-0 on July 5 with two goals coming from Kylie Poohachoff and a goal each from Rachel Lamborn and Jade Nemeth.
The local girls' July 6 match-up against Prince George, featured two teams with identical 2-0 records.
The teams settled for a 2-2 tie after a hard-fought battle, with both goals being scored by Taylor Cahill.
Following round robin play, the Dynamite finished on top of its pool which put the squad up against Vernon, who also finished first in its pool, as well. The game was tied at halftime 1-1, with the local girls coming out strong in the second half.
Langley's lone goal of the game was scored by Jordan Hagen.
