The SFU Aquatic Centre was the venue for the Langley Olympians' latest swim meet as 12 of LOSC's top athletes competed in the SFU Clan Cup International.
The meet was attended by swimmers from China, along with 2012 Olympic medallist Richard Weinberger, who won a bronze medal for Canada in the 10k Open Water event.
The Olympians did not let this prospect faze them as they pulled together strong swims, with many of them making finals and three of them, Chelsea Borrowdale, Hillary Metcalfe, and Justin Schramm, reaching the top of the podium.
Chelsea Borrowdale, 13, in the 15 & under 400m IM; Hillary Metcalfe, 14, in the open 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke;
Justin Schramm, 14, in the 100m fly.
Chelsea Borrowdale in the 200m and 100m breaststroke swims;
Hillary Metcalfe in the 15 & under 50m freestyle, and 16 & over 100m breaststroke; and
Justin Schramm in the 200m fly.
Renae Ledoux, 13, in the 15 & under 50m and 100m breaststroke swims;
Hillary Metcalfe in the 15 & under 200m IM;
Martha Metcalfe, 16, in the 16 & over 400m freestyle, 400m IM, and 800m freestyle;
Robyn Nakano, 13, in the 15 & under 200m fly and Justin Schramm in the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 50m fly.
Justin Schramm set a new LOSC club record in the 100m fly in a time of 59.90.
Other swimmers making finals were: Siobhan Board, 15, in the 15 & under 50m backstroke; Kennedy Douglas, 13, in the 15 & under 400m IM; Michael MacDonald, 16, in the 16 & over 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle; Brandon Miller, 14, in the 15 & under 200m backstroke; Ryan Moloney, 17, in the 16 & over 200m fly, and Gabriella Szalkai, 13, in the 15 & under 400m IM.
Olympians head coach Brian Metcalfe, said of his swimmers performances over the weekend, "We have proved that our swimmers are able to compete with the best. They are moving up the ladder to compete on a level playing field with top university swimmers."
