Like a lot of three-year-olds, the Langley Events Centre grew steadily during 2012.

A $7.725 million expansion was announced at the end of the summer.

The expansion in the eastern parking lot includes a double gym, an indoor turf/dry floor facility, a new change room, storage and support space. The entire expansion is expected to be finished by March of 2013.

The expansion plan has brought in more partners for the facility.

Wrestling BC, the BC Lacrosse Association, Volleyball BC and Volleyball Canada have come on board to secure time at the LEC.

That was followed by an announcement that the Township had bought the former Gibbs Nursery site on the corner of 80th Avenue and 200th Street.

The Township could allow amenities such as a hotel, theatre, casino, restaurant or housing to be built there over the next several years.
