An aging farmhouse in rural Milner was the scene of a double murder Saturday morning.

At about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Langley RCMP received a 911 call about an alleged domestic dispute at a home in the 6400 block of Glover Road, said Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

The RCMP found several people outside the home and two injured people inside, both the victims of gunshot wounds.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The second man died later during the weekend. Neither victim lived at the home.

The two men have been identified as 27-year-old Gordon Spencer, who died at the scene, and 25-year-old Bruce Mayo, who died in hospital.

The inside of the home was thickly doused with bear spray, Pound said.

Four men and one young woman, ranging from 17 to 22 years old were taken into custody and police spent the morning trying to get the details of what had taken place. The young woman has apparently since been released.

The property is known to local Mounties, said Sgt. Ravi Pawar, of the Langley RCMP detachment.

He said that police have attended the property within the last year. It has a house and a few outbuildings, Pawar said, and as far as police know it had been occupied. They weren’t sure whether the occupants were the owners of the home or renters.

RCMP have blocked off Glover Road for most of the day Saturday as they processed the scene. Pound did not comment on whether any guns were found.

There were few indications as to what sparked the shooting. Pound could not say if there were more individuals who fled before police arrived, but said police are looking into it.

“We’re asking for witnesses to come forward,” Pound said. Anyone who heard or saw something unusual around the home should contact police.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448 (IHIT) or emailing ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. To remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit solvecrime.ca.
