For the Westcoast Warriors 98 inline hockey team, the NARCh Finals in San Jose, Calif. had a silver lining.
This is the largest inline hockey tournament in North America with teams competing from North America as well as Colombia, New Zealand, Brazil, and as far away as Hong Kong.
The Warriors peewee team (14 and under) went down to San Jose, where it competed against nine other teams from July 16-20.
After splitting its round robin games - ending up with a 2-2 record - the local boys beat a California River Rats team that had only lost one game all year.
After that, the Warriors defeated the top-seeded team, also from California (Rampage Delta).
The win vaulted the Warriors into the gold medal game, where they lost 5-2 to yet another California team (Norcal Swaglete).
During the tourney, the Warriors had two winners in the skills competition: Jordan Tham (sniper) and Cole Wilson (top goaltender).
