It didn't take long for the B.C. Titans to recover from their first loss of the season.

Two days after suffering their first loss of the season, the B.C. Titans re-discovered their winning form.

The Titans earned a home-and-home split with the Bellingham Slam in International Basketball League action over the weekend.

The Langley-based Titans headed into Friday's game in Bellingham with a perfect 2-0 record.

The Slam proceeded to hand B.C. its first loss of the season by beating the Titans 111-100.

The Titans rallied two days later, getting their revenge in game two Sunday at the Langley Events Centre, where they edged the Slam 110-107. It marked the Titans' first win versus their cross-border rivals.

"Beating a quality program like Bellingham is a good benchmark of what we are capable of," Titans head coach Scott Allen said. "Our goal from the beginning of the season is to win a championship and these kind of victories raise our confidence level in what we are able to attain. This team is just getting started, trust is being built and they are learning to play with each other. It is a long process. The guys have bought into our system and are making great strides each day in trying to do the right thing for us to reach our goal."

The Titans' player of the game, Avery Smith, tallied 30 points and liked the intensity the B.C. squad brought to the court Sunday.

"We took it to another level," Smith said. "I wasn't here last year, so I just treated it like another game, but [I] understand Bellingham is one of the teams to beat in our division. They are a pretty good team and seem like a cohesive unit, but are not as athletic as us and [couldn't] get up and down the floor like we showed we can today."

J.R. Morris - who hit five-of-six attempts from three-point range -also scored 30 points for the Titans, who received double-digit scoring efforts from Terrance Hundley and Marques Lewis (13 points each), as well as Lawrence Blackledge (12 points).

Next up for the 3-1 Titans is a double header weekend versus the Olympia Reign. Game one goes Saturday at 7 p.m., with the re-match on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, at the LEC. Tip-off for Sunday's game is 3 p.m.
