It was an all Langley final Nov. 12 at a girls soccer tournament in Semiahmoo.
The Langley FC Thunder faced the Langley United Storm, with the Thunder coming out on top to win the U9 Division.
The Langley FC girls played three games (amassing one tie and two shutout wins) to advance to the final, where they took on the Langley United Soccer Association's U9 Storm team in a hard fought battle.
The LFC Thunder team, under the direction of their coaches Bev Hine and Richard Wiggins, edged out their local rivals 3-2.
"The Coastal FC Remembrance Day tournament was a great opportunity for U9-12 teams to compete against teams from all across the Lower Mainland," tournament coordinator Ryan Kellis said.
The tournament format allowed teams to play four games in one day against teams they normally don't get a chance to play against outside of their clubs.
"The competition was exciting for all and although the weather didn't fully cooperate, we were able to accommodate all 72 teams to play all of their games," Kellis said.
"Next year we are looking to add venues, and extend the tournament to over 100 competing teams."
