The Langley Thunder bantam A1s celebrated their country's birthday by marching to gold in the top division of one of Canada's biggest lacrosse gatherings, the Calgary Canada Day Weekend Tournament.
After beating two teams from the host city as well as California and Red Deer, the Thunder went head-to-head with their B.C. rivals, the Coquitlam Adanacs, who had yet to lose a game in pre-season, regular season, or tournament play in 2012.
With a fierce commitment to defence and a strong transitional offensive attack, the Thunder turned the tables on the Coquitlam powerhouse, handing the Adanacs their first defeat (7-4) to take top honours when it mattered most.
The Thunder are: Roman Rose, Ryan Martel, Caleb Pearson, Carson Yamamoto, Christian Bosa, Connor Watson, Daniel Stead, Dawson Calfa, Ethan Goodman, Jesse Wellenbrink, Max Joseph, Manny Dewsbury, Hudson Shelvey, Nathaniel Kozevnikov, Quinn McKitrick, Ryan Alcos, and Ryan Wellburn.
They are coached by Tom Johnson, Tyler Codron, Robert Bosa, and Rob Martel.
