"I was at a community event in Langley and a baseball game broke out!"

That's the tag-line used for A Celebration in the Park scheduled for this Saturday at Douglas Park.

Langley's annual Community Living Day helps celebrate the fact that October is Community Living Month in BC.

Each year, Community Living Day is highlighted by the softball game involving RCMP officers, the media, politicians and dignitaries, and most importantly, Special Olympics athletes.

This year, the softball game has been moved up to 10: 30 a.m.

Following the game, a ceremony will be held, recognizing all those who participated.

Langley School District hosted a media contest in which local students looked through the lens of inclusiveness with the theme, "We are Better Together" (working, living, and playing together).

The winners of the districtwide essay/poster contest will receive their prizes from noon to 12: 30 p.m., following the softball game.

Children and youth activities run from 11: 30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
