A crash at a newly-built roundabout at 232nd Street and 56th Avenue Thursday night sent a woman to the hospital with serious injuries.

Just after 11 p.m., an Infiniti sedan hit a cement median, flew into the air, and came to rest in a field on the north-west side of the intersection, said Const. Craig Van Herk of the Langley RCMP.

The 35-year-old Surrey woman in the vehicle was flown to hospital by Air Ambulance.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) team stayed on scene and closed the intersection until about 4:20 a.m. to gather evidence.

The car has been taken for a mechanical inspection.

On Friday, Van Herk said that neither speed nor alcohol had been ruled out as possible explanations for the crash, but they have not been confirmed either.

There may be a witness to the case who can help police determine exactly what happened.

A witness said an unidentified motorist may have see the crash and left before police arrived. Langley Mounties are asking that person to come forward and call the RCMP at 604-532-3200.
