Lightning struck Burnaby for the first half of Saturday's U15 girls field lacrosse game, before the home team mounted a furious comeback.

The Langley Lightning battled to a 9-9 tie with Burnaby, which battled back from a 7-2 halftime deficit in a fast-paced game that, early on, featured Langley's almost unbreakable defence.

Lightning defenders Charlie Jones and Melissa Flint stopped wave after wave of Burnaby attackers.

The hard work soon made its way downfield to Shannon Walker, who showed off her signature pop-out move, to place two high fast balls in the back of the goal and put Langley up 2-1.

Back downfield and Langley's Bianca Hempston was frustrating the Burnaby attackers as they tried to break through her defence.

Reclaiming possession for Langley, Hempston powered downfield for a shot on goal.

Langley struck again with a cheeky assist from Walker to Melaina Ristich for a low ball goal.

Walker was at it again with the assist to Shaelyn Ogilivie, who threw one around the 'keeper so fast that she didn't even see the shot coming.

Burnaby was quick to take possession before hitting the brick wall of Melissa Flint once again.

Ogilivie then decided to take on the whole Burnaby defence to put her second marker away.

Burnaby wasn't going to be left behind and steamrolled Langley's defence to score its second goal.

Next was a three-team set-up from Walker to Ristich, Ristich to Ogilivie, and Ogilivie to the back of the net, all in the space of just over two minutes.

Then, 10 seconds before the end of the second half, Walker scored her third goal to put Langley up 7-2.

At the start of the second half, a different Burnaby team emerged from the sideline.

Hot for revenge Burnaby was able to take shot after shot at the Langley goal.

Langley responded with a a lengthy set up by Ogilivie and Ristich, who was able so slide one down the right side of the 'keeper to put Langley one goal ahead.

Five minutes later Burnaby responded with the equalizer.

Ogilivie proceeded put her fourth behind the 'keeper to put Langley ahead 9-8.

Then, with less than a minute to go, Burnaby's sniper put away her fifth goal to tie the game 9-9 and round out the day's scoring.
