Langley Athletic FC was involved in two games with completely different complexions last weekend.

In what was its best offensive outing of the Pacific Coast Soccer League season, LAFC out-scored Victoria United 5-3 Saturday at Victoria's Royal Athletic Park.

Nate Turner potted a pair of goals for LAFC. Andy Phillips, Tyson Keam, and Joseph Martin rounded out the LAFC goal-getters.

Making the Victoria victory all the more impressive was the fact a short-manned LAFC squad raced out to a 3-0 lead by halftime.

Victoria scored its final goal just before the final whistle.

On Sunday, the Langley lads travelled to Thunderbird Stadium, where they battled to a tight 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Thunderbirds. Carlos Del Aguila scored LAFC's lone goal.

LAFC came out flat and trailed 1-0 in the first five minutes.

Del Aguila scored just before halftime to even the score.

The teams traded opportunities during the second half but neither managed to score the go-ahead goal.

"I thought we had an exceptional weekend. I thought the boys played well," LAFC head coach Pat Rohla said. "I'm really pleased. Four out of six points against two good squads is really flattering for us."

The win and the tie gave LAFC 11 points on the season. At press time Langley owned a 3-5-2 record and was tied for sixth place with the Victoria Highlanders in the nineteam, PCSL Premier Men's Division.

Prior to Wednesday, LAFC had one fewer loss than the Highlanders, and had played one less game.

Langley looked to inch closer to the .500 mark last night (June 20) when it visited Coquitlam Town Centre for a meeting with host Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC.

The game kicked off after the Langley Advance went to press Wednesday afternoon.

Coquitlam brought an impressive 5-1-2 record into the match.
