If the weather forecast holds true, Saturday should be a spectacular day for a soccer game.

Players and staff with Langley Athletic FC hope the sunny and warm conditions continue when they host Bellingham FC in Pacific Coast Soccer League play at McLeod Athletic Park.

In addition to watching high-level men's soccer action, there'll be plenty to do around the pitch, as well.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m., but the party starts an hour earlier, with special guests, the Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band.

Admission is free.

It's the first of two home games this weekend for LAFC, which hosts the Okanagan Challenge Sunday at Willoughby Turf. Kickoff for that game is 2 p.m.

LAFC had two wins and a tie to show for its last three matches, heading into last night's home game against Coquitlam Metro Ford SC at Willoughby Turf NW. The game got underway after the Langley Advance went to press Wednesday afternoon.

Langley Athletic took a 4-5-3 record into last night's contest.

THUNDER ROLLS OVER TO VANCOUVER ISLAND

The Langley Thunder are road warriors this weekend. On Friday, the Western Lacrosse Association-leading Thunder travels to Victoria's Bear Mountain Arena to take on the Shamrocks.

It will be a showdown of the top two teams in the seven-team WLA. The Thunder top the league standings with an 8-4 record. At 7-3, the Shamrocks hold down second place.

The next night, the Thunder will be at Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena to face the Timbermen.

The Thunder will wrap up its three-game road trip July 12 with a visit to Queen's Park Arena, for a date with the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

The Thunder's next home game is Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m., when the local boys take on Victoria at the Langley Events Centre.
