For a number of Langleyites, this weekend’s BC Summer Games were golden.

Langley athletes did the host community proud by taking home medals coloured gold, silver, and bronze from a weekend that was chock-full of action.

Field lacrosse

The host Fraser Valley field lacrosse team, including Langley residents Reece Callies, Johnny Pearson, Jacob Taylor, and Chase Fraser won gold.

Fraser Valley defeated Vancouver Island 7-1 in the gold medal game at Willoughby Park.

Box lacrosse

A Zone 3 (Fraser Valley) squad that included local players Steven Mayervich, Scott Trapp, Connar Abrams, and James Rahe edged Vancouver Island-Central Coast 4-3 in the gold medal contest.

Boys rugby

The Fraser Valley team with Langley’s Gavin Rowell and Cali Martinez won the gold medal, defeating Vancouver Island-Central Coast 21-5 in the tournament final.

Diving

Langley diver Kailee Lingham dove to gold medals in the one- and three-metre events.

Lingham appreciated the support of her team.

“It’s been an amazing experience,” she said. “It’s been a really good opportunity to spend time with my friends.”

Of her second victory, Lingham said she was “really, really happy again.”

Langley-based diver Nathan Jacobs took double silver in his events: boys Group B one metre and Boys Group B three metre.

Beach volleyball

Capturing the gold medal in girls beach volleyball at the BC Summer Games in Langley was especially sweet for Amanda Lundquist and Janae Enns of the host Fraser Valley zone.

The win was made even sweeter in front of family and friends. Enns lives just a few minutes away from the new beach volleyball facility at Langley’s Willoughby Park.

Lundquist and Enns never trailed as they beat the Vancouver Island zone team of Aleshia Orr of Victoria and Kelsey O’Neill of Nanaimo in straight sets 21-16 and 21-15 Sunday morning to capture the gold medal, two games to none.

Inline hockey

The Fraser Valley inline hockey team including Eric Callegari, Ryan Donaldson, Dallas Gaytmenn, Kurtis Klimek, Jordan Klimek, Taylor Kolisnyk, Kellan Lavallee, Quinncy Leroux, Ayden MacDonald, Jordan Maundrell, head coach Ron Leroux and assistant coach Dixon Leroux rolled to a gold medal.

Fraser Valley defeated Vancouver-Squamish 5-3 in the gold medal game.
