Critter Care Wildlife Society takes in animals from around the province to raise and rehabilitate so they can be returned to the wild.

The non-profit society does not receive tax dollars to do this work and relies on public generosity to operate.

The wildlife centre costs $625,000 per year to operate and each bear cub brought costs about $5,000 to raise.

The centre takes in almost any wildlife including several baby raccoon, a skunk caught in a leg-hold trap, fauns, bears, coyote, river otters and more.

People can help by taking part in the fourth annual walkathon on Sept. 30 in Campbell Valley Regional Park.

The deadline to sign up is Sept. 18 so organizers have time to plan. After the walk, everyone will gather for a barbecue lunch.

Dogs are welcome on leash.

People can sign up online through www.crittercarewildlife.org or call 604-530-2064.

People who raise $100 or more in pledges will receive a special gift.

The non-competitive walk goes rain or shine on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 12:15 p.m. with on-site registration starting at 11:15 a.m.
