TWINS HOST TOURNEY

The Twin Cities Invitational, or TCI for short, is being held at Larry Walker Field in Maple Ridge from Thursday, May 17 to Monday, May 21.

Three local teams are participating, the Ridge-Meadows Royals, host team Ridge-Meadows Twins, and the Maple Ridge Jerks.

SAFETY COMES FIRST

Local fishing expert Jeff Weltz continues his advice with some words of wisdom about the personal floatation device (PFD).

"We all know that it is important to wear one in the boat, if for no other reason than to set a good example for the kids. Right? I know they are bulky, awkward, and a general nuisance, when it comes to the freedom of movement we need as fisherman. That excuse is not accepted anymore since the advent of inflatable belts and collars."

RAISE FUNDS FOR FUN

There are 13 active Special Olympics sports running in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows and on Saturday there will be a fundraiser for them at the Ranch Pub and Grill at 21973 132nd Ave.

The fun begins at 6 p.m. and will feature a steak buffet dinner and beer for $25. For tickets call 604-780-8577.
