Langley Minor Football's atom Broncos are now a perfect 4-0 following their 24-0 win over the host Tigers of Coquitlam at Kevin Chin Field on Sunday.

The Broncos' defence took over early and never let the Tigers' offence get started.

This time there was no late touchdown against the defence as Langley finished the game with its first shutout of the season.

Caydon Beck-Boreson with 12 tackles led the Broncos' defence.

Brandon Folkerts turned the momentum in Langley's favour after forcing, and recovering, the Tigers' running back's fumble early in the second quarter. The Broncos' "D" only allowed 30 more yards after forcing that turnover.

Rookie back-up quarterback and first-year atom player Kaycen Horan did a fine job running the Broncos' offence, which came alive after a slow start when offensive lineman Hunter Hanley started making big blocks to open up running lanes.

Aiden Foster, Eric Hartwig, Liam Smart, and Ethan Sledding dominated Coquitlam's defensive line, allowing the Broncos' running attack to get rolling.

With two second-half touchdowns by AJ Steinmann and Beck Boreson, the Broncos sealed the victory with a fourth-quarter touchdown drive that ate up all 12 minutes of the quarter. The drive was led by pounding inside runs from both Jessie Tomica and Beck-Boreson.

Tomica converted all three extra points to round out the day's scoring.

Flag Bandits

Defence was key for the Bandits as they battled the North Surrey Ravens Sunday morning.

On the final play of the game, Langley scored to win 15-13.

North Surrey was first to put points on the board after a slick field and quick flags led to a three-and-out for Langley.

After two consecutive kicks by North Surrey failed to make 10 yards, Langley chose to have Surrey re-kick, leading to a touchdown by Jordan Tomica.

Down by one score at the half, the Bandits started with the ball in their own territory after a short return by Quinntin Steinmann.

Huge blocks by Kyle Rowe, Rylan Trafford, and Colten Buckley gave Quintin Steinmann the time he needed to make a five-yard pass to Jordan Tomica.

The following play saw another set of impressive blocks against a large Surrey team by Zaeden Pleasants, Jake Kirby, and Cody Oliver, allowing Vaughn Pinchin to run for a touchdown.

The ensuing kickoff looked like it might be returned for another North Surrey touchdown until the ball carrier was tracked down by Langley's Kirkland Roloff at the seven-yard line.

The Ravens were then stymied in the backfield for two consecutive losses totalling 15 yards, courtesy of flags by Liam Duncan and Jacob Thorpe.

The final stop came when Colten Buckley overcame a 40 pound and 18 inch size difference to flag the North Surrey runner in the backfield.

After North Surrey turned the ball over on downs, Langley scored to take its first lead of the game.

The following possession saw North Surrey score and then convert to take a 13-12 advantage.

Jordan Tomica returned the kickoff to the one-yard line. On the final play of the game quarterback Quintin Steinmann made the one-yard plunge into the end zone, giving Langley the two-point victory.

Peewee Cowboys

The Cowboys found themselves in a good old-fashioned defensive battle at Coquitlam's Kevin Chin Field on Sunday.

The Coquitlam Wildcats scored the game's lone touchdown in the second half to edge the Cowboys 6-0.

Langley won the coin toss and Stryker Roloff received the kick off, moving the ball five yards up the field.

During the first drive, Nico Gerrussi ran for a first down and Anthony Ghent had a number of successful runs, before the drive stalled at Coquitlam's 20-yard line.

Langley's defence came on the field, and tackles by Shea Wutke and Anthony Ghent helped stymie Coquitlam's offence, which was only able to move the ball about 20 yards.

The Cowboys' offence was back on. Devin Armstrong with a quarterback sneak on thirdand-five gained six yards for a well-deserved first down, however Langley was stopped at Coquitlam's 10-yard line.

The Cowboys' defence pushed back hard with big tackles from Luke Penney and Rolof, stopping the Wildcats inside their own 30.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys' offence, it was a three-and-out scenario and the ball was turned over on downs.

The last drive of the first half was Coquitlam's, with tackles by Liam Jeffrey, Tysen Bright, and Roloff stopping the Wildcats at Langley's 15-yard line as the first half ended scoreless.

The third quarter saw more hard tackles by Cowboys' defenders Mateo Ciampelletti, Tysen Toombs, Luke Penny, and Roloff, however the Wildcats broke through for a touchdown. Toombs blocked the convert to keep the score to 6-0.

Quentin Van Muyen recovered Coquitlam's kickoff and Nico Gerrussi went for an exciting 25-yard run for a first down, but the ball was turned over on an interception.

Coquitlam started the fourth quarter at the Cowboys' 40. Strong tackles by Jeffrey, Bright, Penney, and Roloff helped the defence stop the drive at the Cowboys' fiveyard line.
