A young Langley golfer earned his muchsoughtafter first career victory during the Boston Pizzapresented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) British Columbia Fall One-Day Series this past Sunday.

The event was held at Pitt Meadows Golf Club where, despite some heavy rain, the full field of junior golfers battled through and some fine scores were recorded.

After competing on the tour for four years and more than 20 tournaments, Briggs, 15, of Langley, and a junior at Langley Golf Centre, fired a 72 for his first MJT title, winning low overall and the MJT Boys 1416 division.

"The key was making clutch putts and staying calm when I had an 'off' shot, not making any big mistakes," Briggs said. "It feels really good [to win]. Staying calm and grinding it out paid off."

Runner-up in this division was Cam McAllister, 14, of Gibsons, who shot a 74.
