The 4-1 Atom Bears were set to have a week off, but when Anton McKenzie and Marco Iannuzzii of the BC Lions showed up at the North Langley practice Wednesday, they invited the Atoms to play an exhibition game at BC Place stadium on Oct. 6.

So fans who went to see B.C. face off against Calgary also got to watch the North Langley Bears in action against the New Westminister Hyacks in a short, pregame scrimmage.

As well as playing in the new stadium, the Atom Bears got to rub shoulders with a Lion or two, including Geroy Simon.

BANTAMS

The Bantam and Midget Bears had away games in Chilliwack on Saturday.

The Bantams lost 34-0 to the undefeated Giants.

The Bears held the Giants off the scoreboard until late in the first quarter, thanks to good defense, and Brandon Sang and Colton Pierce running the ball on offense. Won Jae Boo also caught a 10-yard pass from Kenzie Oram.

The momentum swung to the Giants late in the first half, despite a Bears interception by Max Joseph, and another by Jake Laberge.

Taryn Taylor, Pierce, and Jake Johnson racked up the tackles, with more from Ian Canning, Connor Priest, Tyler Aasen, Sang, Joseph, Laberge, and Boo.

MIDGETS

Both midget teams came out fast and furious, with Chilliwack scoring a touchdown early, but North Langley answered with a Chris Baerg field goal.

Big runs by Mook Kim and a 15-yard pass completion from Braeden Pritchard to Adrian Clements played large in the ensuing action, but good Giants coverage against a long third down pass to David Fredo ended the Bears drive.

The Giants took the game at 32-3.

PEEWEES

The Peewee and Junior Bantam Bears crossed the river to play Meadow Ridge Thanksgiving Monday.

The boys held their own until the Knights managed a touchdown at the end of the first half. The Bears lost 32-0.

JB

The JB Bears took home a 51-12 victory from Meadow Ridge.

Zander Bailey led the Bears with four TDs on the ground. Pablo Wigwigan scored two touchdowns on runs of 45 and 80 yards. Brett Christensen hooked up with Jacob Stebbings on a 50-yard pass and run to the Knights' first yard line, and Stebbings ran the ball in for the score on the next play. Keyan Adkins scored the final TD in the fourth quarter.
