Aldergrove Financial Group is donating $50,000 to Kwantlen Polytechnic University and its campaign for community and health services to build new facilities at the Langley campus.

"We've supported Kwantlen University and their students for many years through our scholarship program," said credit union CEO Gus K. Hartl. "And now, this donation of $50,000 will go a long way in ensuring a high standard of education for those professionals who truly improve the lives of the patients in our communities."

The campaign will support the new home for the faculty of community and health services. In all $7 million is being invested to consolidate and relocate the faculty into a refurbished and expanded building on the Langley campus. The building will be entirely gutted and a second storey added, allowing the creation of four new teaching labs, four nursing simulation labs and a home care lab.

Observation and debrief rooms, classrooms and study areas will be located adjacent to the labs.

"Investing in our communities is a part of our organization, and a part of our credit union roots," added Hartl. "We're proud to be a part of Kwantlen's vision to create an environment for learning that will equip students with the knowledge and experience they will need to successfully meet the needs of the changing health care field."

Aldergrove Financial Group has a history of supporting local communities, which extends in many ways and touches numerous areas where members, staff and their families live. Aldergrove Financial Group truly is a community credit union.
