The Vancouver Giants announced today the signing of a 15-year-old Calgary native.

The hockey club is welcoming 2001-born forward Evan Patrician, said general manager Glen Hanlon.

“As soon as I was offered the contract, I knew I wanted to become a Giant and join the Vancouver organization,” Patrician said.

“It’s the right choice for me and my family, and I’m ecstatic right now.”

Patrician was taken by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2016 WHL bantam draft at 142nd overall.

The 15-year-old is in the top 20 in scoring in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League this season, tallying 16 points in 15 games for the Calgary Flames Midget AAA team.

“For a player to have the success that Evan has had as a 15-year-old playing Midget AAA, it’s a big accomplishment,” Hanlon said.

“He’s produced well offensively, and we’re happy that he has made the decision to join our hockey club.”

Patrician has been signed to a Western Hockey League standard player agreement.

In the meantime, the G-Men will continue their U.S. division road trip on Friday night when they visit the Spokane Chiefs. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

Vancouver’s next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, against the Prince George Cougars at the Langley Events Centre. For tickets, people can call 604-444-2687.
