Langley played host to the largest horse trial event in Western Canada Aug. 16-18.
This is year 24 for the Campbell Valley Horse Trials hosted by the Campbell Valley Equestrian Society.
People came from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, Washington State, the Kootenays, Okanagan and the B.C. Interior as well as from all over the Lower Mainland.
In all the event featured 201 competitors.
"Riders ranged in age from 11 years old to several in their 60s with about half being under 20 years old and half over 20 years," said Carol McDonald, society president.
An 11-member volunteer board organizes the event with the help of many volunteers, Horse Trials BC, the provincial government, the Township and Metro Vancouver offering support.
Campbell Valley Equestrian Society was founded in 1987 and the first event was run in 1989. Next year will be the 25th anniversary of the event.
All funds raised go back into the equestrian centre located on the grounds of Campbell Valley Regional Park.
