Once again, TransLink is trying to nail those of us living south of the Fraser River. They want to impose parking fees or increase existing parking fees at park-and-rides.
You can't keep penalizing those who have no easy access to what is a dysfunctional transit system south of the Fraser. We don't have the ability to step out of our front door to a bus sitting at the curb, as they do in Vancouver and Burnaby.
Instead of developing a system that actually works, TransLink continues to flounder, trying to figure out how to make a broken system work. They insist on trying to find ways to make the taxpayer pay for their management mistakes.
Meanwhile, right after telling everyone that they have no money to expand transit services to those of us living south of the Fraser - Surrey, Langley, etc. (though they keep accepting our hard earned tax dollars) - they think they have money to build a new six-lane bridge. With what? Buttons?
This could just be a smoke-and-mirrors effort to play one project against the other, as we know they are so adept at doing. TransLink has no money for transit services, but managed to come up with $500,000 to support a bike lane in downtown Vancouver.
Stop with the pie-in-the sky ideas and start focussing on providing and improving services to the people who are paying the bills - and their bloated salaries. There is only so much money to go around.
