Anosmia is a physical complaint that affects some of us. It means one is unable to taste. It is to do with the ability to smell.
The taste-buds on our tongue are responsible for being able to enjoy sugar, salt, and such items. The remaining more than 90 per cent of the taste of food is tied in directly to our sense of smell.
I was complaining to a friend of this condition and bemoaning the fact that the tasty treats of Christmas were like eating paper; filling but utterly bland and dull.
He listened attentively, and then grinned.
I wish I had your complaint he said.
I queried this remark. How could he wish for such an ailment?
His grin broadened as he replied; Youve never tasted my wifes cooking!
For the sake of peace and to avoid disaster, Ill not divulge this mans name. However, I will tell you he is of Irish descent.
