Returned bag earns grateful smile

Dear Editor,

My husband and I spent a considerable amount of time shopping at the Sears store in Willowbrook Shopping Centre. When it was time to leave, I made a quick trip to the washroom near the Zeller's store before getting back in our vehicle to go to see my sister to celebrate her birthday.

By the time we got home, many hours had passed. My husband carried in some of the purchases and I carried in others. We had quite a pile of articles.

When I went searching for the bag containing my lingerie purchases, it was nowhere to be found. There should have been three Sears bags, but there were only two! I searched the car, then the house, then the car, then the house - over and over, but nothing changed. There were still only two blue Sears bags.

My husband suggested that I must have left the single bag in the washroom. I was pretty sure he was right.

I was devastated and embarrassed. How could I have been so stupid? On a long shot, I contacted the Willowbrook Lost and Found by email, describing the contents of the bag and enquiring if it had been turned in. (It was too late to phone, as by that time the store was closed.)

The next morning, I called the number for the mall's Lost and Found, and was told, "Oh, yes. Your bag was turned in yesterday. We got your email and were just about to call you."

So we made a return trip across the Golden Ears Bridge yesterday to pick up the bag. I asked if anyone there knew who had turned it in, but they had no idea.

I really want to thank that person. I am grateful and incredibly impressed by the honour and honesty of the individual who came to my rescue. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You made not only my day but my whole week. I smile whenever I think of you, kind person!
