The public has a chance to be part of the annual Brigade Day flotilla that comes down the Fraser River from Mission to Fort Langley.
The Fort Langley Canoe Club oversees the flotilla and tickets are available for those who want to be in one of the canoes. The club expects to have nine or 10 boats on Aug. 6. The flotilla's arrival includes historical reenactments, such as carrying ladies to shore to prevent them from getting wet dresses and feet. The canoe club handles all arrangments, including meals and transportation to Mission to start the journey. People are asked to try and dress in period style clothing but the club can help with that as well. To sign up or to find out more about taking part, to go www.fortlangleycanoeclub.ca. People can also contact the brigade coordinator via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
