One hundred birthday candles will be lit on April 25, 2014 when the City of Pitt Meadows celebrates its centurial year.

A time-honoured skill will be introduced in a sold-out class at the museum in Pitt Meadows on Saturday.

Maple Ridge Christmas in the Park and Santa Claus Parade run from 4 to 8 p.m. with free family entertainment, including live music on the bandstand, a live nativity scene, and a Christmas craft tent where kids can make ornaments. And Santa will be in his yurt, where children can get a free 4x6-inch photo with the jolly man and drop off their letters to Santa in his mailbox. Just before 6 p.m., Santa will leave his yurt for the lighting of a peace tree - which signifies the start of the Christmas parade getting underway at the corner of Plaza Street and Dewdney Trunk Road After the parade, the Johnson Brothers will entertain on the bandstand from 7: 30 to 8 p.m.
