A Langley man may be charged with uttering threats after an incident that led to Langley Fine Arts School being locked down for about an hour Wednesday.

A teenaged girl at the school received a threatening text message to her, and reported it to the principal, who contacted Langley RCMP.

The principal decided to lock down the school while police began their investigation, said Cpl. Craig Van Herk, speaking for the local RCMP.

Officers quickly located the suspected source of the text, and a 32-year-old Langley man was arrested in or near his car.

The lockdown was lifted at about 11:45 a.m.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the suspect was being held in RCMP cells, and an investigation was ongoing. Police were considering forwarding charges of uttering threats to Crown prosecutors.

The man was known to the teen, and they are not related. Police could not release more information on the situation.
