Anyone who forgot to attend the Shed It and Forget It event in March will have a chance to safely dispose of personal documents.

Envision Financial, Iron Mountain and the Langley RCMP have Shred It and Forget It Sept. 22. Stop by Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6470 201st St. "While identity theft is a reality in our society, it is often a preventable crime," said Cpl. Holly Marks, of the Langley RCMP Detachment. "By shredding your personal information, you are taking a proactive approach to avoid being a victim. As police officers, we see identity theft all too often so we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity if they are able."

The shred-a-thon funds will go to BC Children's Hospital.

The Langley RCMP will also be on hand to provide fraud awareness information to the public.

"Over 300 people attended our event in March which demonstrates a real need in our community," said Lindzee Herring, with Envision Financial.

Envision will be accepting donations for BC Children's Hospital Foundation. The March shredding raised more than $3,000.

"By providing secure shred services we help fight identity theft, recycle paper, and raise funds for BC Children's hospital," said David Garzon, Iron Mountain.
