On one of the hottest days of the year thus far, close to a thousand people gathered at McLeod Athletic Park Friday night for the eighth annual Relay for Life and to aid in the fight against cancer.
Organizers were pleased there were more teams and more people than last year who came out for the opening ceremonies, survivors lap, and kick off to the 12-hour community relay.
The event , organized by the Canadian Cancer Society, raises money and awareness in the fight for cancer.
