Two people are dead as the result of a collision between a dump truck and an SUV, Langley RCMP have confirmed.
Police are hoping to talk to someone who may have witnessed the fatal crash.
The collision occurred on 16th Avenue, between 200th and 208th Streets just after 12:30 today, Sept. 13.
The two deceased were the adult occupants of a westbound sport utility vehicle that collided head on with a dump truck pulling a pup.
The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries.
The initial investigation suggests the SUV was in the oncoming lane, passing across a double solid line, at the time of the collision, reported Langley RCMP media liaison Cpl. Holly Marks.
Marks said that investigators are awaiting direction from the BC Coroner's Service, and once the occupants are identified, a police officer will complete the next of kin notification.
Langley RCMP Client Support and Victim Services will be present to provide support.
Police would like to locate and speak to a possible witness to the collision, said Marks.
This witness is believed to have been westbound on 16th Avenue in a smaller green vehicle, similar to a Toyota Corolla.
16th Avenue will remain closed between 200th and 208th Streets for approximately five hours, said Marks, as Langley Traffic Services and ICARS complete their investigation.
Anyone with information relative to this collision who has not spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
